Barcelona 3 Villareal 1 Match Review

Sunday night’s late kickoff saw Barcelona take on Villarreal at La Ceramica.  The Yellow Submarine had not beaten the Catalan side from 2008, and it was meant to be a golden chance for them to turn the tables and it certainly was a chaotic affair. Barcelona lined up in a sort of a 3-4-2-1 with the 3 centre backs- namely Pique, Araujo and Garcia- who was given the task of Man Marking Moi Gomez it seemed. Let's just say it didn't work well. Barca b winger Abde got his first start for the club at Right Wing Back. First Half Barcelona started the Half on Fire. There was hunger, determination and aggression to win. Abde started very brightly, looking to take on his man every time and getting a cross into the box resulting in corners. The highlight of the first half was Frenkie de Jong’s wonderful through ball to Memphis Depay. Depay had a chance to easily score past the keeper to make it 1-0 but he missed - something which you don't expect from someone of the calibre of Memphis

Xavi Denies Putting Midfielders On Market

Barcelona has always been rich in terms of quality in centre of the field. From Xavi, Busquets, Iniesta to Gavi, Puig, Nico, De Jong and Pedri, the club has had countless superstars in the midfield. Being a midfielder at Barcelona isn't easy, you need to have the best possible qualities to play 'The Barca Way' of football.  It is difficult to imagine that someone will ever match the standards set by the holy trinity of Xavi, Busquets and Iniesta at Barcelona. But right now, the club is blessed in midfield area. With the rise of Pablo Paez 'Gavi' and Nico Gonzalez, and already established players like Pedri and Frenkie De Jong, Barça's midfield looks set for years to come.  Xavi obviously thinks the same. When asked about if the club would accept offers for any of the midfielders, he said, “We need them - they are not for sale at all. Selling them isn’t our idea. What we want is for them to be here and strengthen themselves”. The coach especially mentioned De Jon

Coming off of a great year with both club and country, Pedri has already won the Golden Boy award and the Euros Young Player Of The Tournament and it looks like another prestigious trophy is to be awarded to the 19-year-old. The Kopa Trophy, which is awarded every year by France Football to the best player under 21 is set to soon be in Pedri's hands as per Blazquez Font The young star seems to be destined for greatness at Barca as he has already achieved so much just in his breakthrough season. He will succeed De Ligt and Mbappe as Kopa Trophy winners who won it in 2019 and 2018 respectively. --- > With Barcelona's heavy interest in Manchester City youngster Ferran Torres, who they are determined to sign, the club may have to part ways with Phillipe Coutinho. Without Coutinho's departure, signings in January will be difficult to pull off as it is impossible to register new players to the salary bill as per FCBRAC1 Although AS has also reported that Coutinho does not want

Ferran Torres To Barcelona : So Close But Still So Far

Ferran Torres is keen on a January move to Barcelona. Sources close to the player stress that he is far from desperate to leave #ManCity , but is keen to secure a regular starting role and has been seduced by the idea of leading the line at the Nou Camp. [ @SamLee / @TheAthleticUK ] — City Xtra (@City_Xtra) November 26, 2021 Sources close to the player stress that he is far from desperate to leave City, but is keen to secure a regular starting role and has been seduced by the idea of leading the line at the Nou Camp. Dembele : Moving Away From Barcelona

They say some matches are made in heaven, as looked the case with Ousmane Dembele and Barcelona when the Frenchman was brought for a whopping amount of money from Borussia Dortmund. But since his arrival at Camp Nou, things have not gone right for the player. Being constantly plagued by injuries, Dembele is yet to find his best version at Barcelona. Although he has shown glimpses of why he was bought for such a massive price, the consistency has never been there.  The arrival of Xavi Hernandez has rejuvenated the hopes of Dembele to finally succeed as a Blaugrana. The coach fully trusts the winger and has even publicly admitted that the Frenchman is an important part of his project.  But with good news comes the bad. Dembele's contract is expiring in the summer of 2022. Barcelona have already started negotiations and presented a renewal offer to the player. According to reports, Ousmane Dembele and his agents consider Barcelona's offer low.  Despite Barça and Xavi's continu

Ronald Araujo's Renewal Complicated

FC Barcelona are hoping to renew central defender Ronald Araujo for five more seasons but it doesn't seem financially easy to do so at the moment as the club have inferred that Araujo wants a pay raise.  The player earns 35,000 euros a week [salarysport] which is not a lot compared to other players of the Barcelona squad but considering Barcelona's financial situation, it will not be easy to find a way out of this. Seeing Araujo's performances on the pitch it is understandable why he asks for a hike in salary. His fellow centre-back, Samuel Umtiti who hasn't played a single minute this season earns 263,000 euros per week [salarysport] compared to Araujo's 35,000 euros per week. Although on the bright side, Araujo has 2 years left on his contract so there is plenty of time to try and solve this situation and give Araujo the contract he is asking for. The clubs interested in Araujo are Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United. Liverpool seem to be the ones most intere

Barcelona eye Man United Winger for the January transfer window

FC Barcelona's fragile situation in the wide area is part of concerns for the Spanish giants as they are lacking natural wingers in the squad. With Ansu Fati and Ousmane Dembélé still recovering from their injuries. Certain players like Philippe Coutinho and Yusuf Demir are more of interior instead of natural winger. This lack of natural wingers has led to Barcelona using Gavi and even Dest to play as a winger. With Xavi insisting on using natural wingers in his tactics, FC Barcelona will surely be looking to sign a winger in the upcoming January transfer window. According to the Spanish outlet, Mundo Deportivo, Manchester United's Jesse Lingard is an option for Barca looking forward to the January transfer window as his contract with Man United has only 7 months remaining. Lingard has already rejected a contract offer from Manchester United over concerns he may not get enough opportunities to keep his place in Gareth Southgate's England squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qa

Four Players Barcelona Are Targeting In The Winter Transfer Window

With the arrival of Xavi, Barcelona are looking to reinforce the squad by bringing in some players in the winter transfer window. Here's a look at some of the possible options :  4. Denis Zakaria The Swiss international is heavily liked by Barça as they continue to find a replacement for ageing Sergio Busquets. Zakaria will be out of contract in June 2022 and can start talking to other clubs from January. If he doesn't renew, the winter transfer window will be the German club's last chance to sell the player, who is valued at 27 million euros. The midfielder has 2 goals and 1 assist in 10 Bundesliga appearances this season. 3. Raheem Sterling  Raheem Sterling is said to be a priority signing for Xavi in January, but the club's economic difficulties have lowered the chances of arrival of the Englishman. Sterling is open to a move to the Camp Nou, as he's not happy with his lack of game time in Manchester. 2. Arthur Cabral Arthur Cabral, 23, is on Barça's radar in
