Barcelona has always been rich in terms of quality in centre of the field. From Xavi, Busquets, Iniesta to Gavi, Puig, Nico, De Jong and Pedri, the club has had countless superstars in the midfield. Being a midfielder at Barcelona isn't easy, you need to have the best possible qualities to play 'The Barca Way' of football.
It is difficult to imagine that someone will ever match the standards set by the holy trinity of Xavi, Busquets and Iniesta at Barcelona. But right now, the club is blessed in midfield area. With the rise of Pablo Paez 'Gavi' and Nico Gonzalez, and already established players like Pedri and Frenkie De Jong, Barça's midfield looks set for years to come.
Xavi obviously thinks the same. When asked about if the club would accept offers for any of the midfielders, he said, “We need them - they are not for sale at all. Selling them isn’t our idea. What we want is for them to be here and strengthen themselves”. The coach especially mentioned De Jong and said that he's untouchable.
The new generation of Barça midfield will be a joy to watch under the legend of Xavi Hernandez.
